Windows Live Messenger (MSN Messenger, Windows Messenger) 的不少问题是需要重新安装解决的，或者是不习惯新版想改回旧版 Messenger，但卸载不彻底无法安装低版本 Messenger。为此，Jonathan Kay 开发了一款 Messenger 完美卸载工具 - ZapMessenger：
In some cases the installer can’t be found in the Control Panel’s Programs applet or has become damaged with a Catastrophic failure (0×8000ffff) error or the Windows Installer is prompting for a missing .msi file which you can’t find anymore.
With all this in mind, I developed ZapMessenger – the one step tool to completely remove Windows Live Messenger, MSN Messenger and Windows Messenger 5.x. The first thing ZapMessenger will do is attempt to cleanly uninstall Messenger normally and if that fails for any reason, it will forcibly remove Messenger from the Windows Installer engine allowing you to reinstall at your leisure without hindrance.
下载 Zip 文件，并执行就可以开始使用叻。注意：ZapMessenger 只卸载程序，不会删除个性化内容（头像，自定义表情等）。
若需要卸载微软的 Messenger，ZapMessenger 是值得考虑的一款工具。 
有时微软的 Windows Installer 引擎也不可靠，推荐用 Windows Install Clean Up 工具清理卸载失败的程序。

之前提到 PhotoSynth 团队加入 Virtual Earth，现在，PhotoSynth 终于与 Live Search Maps 整合了（via Sarah Perez）：
当你查看 Live Search Maps 中某地的时候，你可以选择在地图中显示 PhotoSynth 标记；然后在标记的菜单中点击“运行 PhotoSynth 查看器 launch Photosynth viewer” 链接，就可以查看该地的 PhotoSynth 了。

相信大家一定很期待 Windows 7 中的新任务栏，我也在之前详细介绍了：更多关于 Windows 7 新任务栏的介绍及照片，及Windows 7 中的任务栏 Taskbar 新功能介绍。而在这次的 Windows 7 M3 6801 版本中，是没有该新任务栏的。微软隐藏了该功能，只对个别域及内部员工开启。
尽管 Rafael 给出了如何开启该新版任务栏的方法（我放在后面介绍），但 6801 中的新版任务栏并不和 PDC 上演示的完全一样，比如：快速启动仍然存在，Aero Peek 不能正常工作，Jumplists 也是旧版的。这大概就是微软隐藏该功能的原因吧。
以下是 Rafael 给出的手动启用 Windows 7 新特性任务栏的方法（Windows 7 判断是否开启新任务栏的流程图）：
只需下载 Rafael 提供的工具：x86 或者 x64（64位未测试），将该工具放在 Windows 目录下，并以管理员身份执行以下命令（注意：该命令中的“用户名”替换为自己本机的用户名）：
- takeown /f %windir%\explorer.exe
- cacls %windir%\explorer.exe /E /G 用户名:F
- taskkill /im explorer.exe /f
- cd %windir%
- start unlockProtectedFeatures.exe
最后，点击 Launch 按钮重新运行 Shell 即可。如果不成功请回复遇到的错误或者线索，我或许可以帮忙解决。

Brian 在 Messenger 官方博客中发布了一则公告：
An issue has been discovered in the current Windows Live Messenger beta that may leave users unable to sign-in. Only a very small number of users may encounter this issue but wanted to proactively message this to the community.
To avoid the issue yourself, please DO NOT block a group and then leave the group. If you plan to leave a group, please unblock it first. Following this precaution will ensure that you will not be affected by this issue.
We are currently working hard to fix the problem and allow those customers who have been affected to once again sign-in to the Messenger beta.

- We launched a new service for small businesses, personal websites and hobbyists this week.
- The service, available for free from Multimap.com, provides a single line of HTML to cut and paste into a web page.
- The user gets a slippy map in a choice of map styles (TeleAtlas, Ordnance Survey and Barts) or aerial for anywhere in the world (US included, using VE maps and aerial).
- The pasted HTML includes four hyperlinks back to Multimap.com:
- See this location on Multimap (for a bigger map, POI, business listings, etc)
- See this location in Birds Eye
- Get directions to this location
- Get directions from this location
- The service is limited to 50,000 transactions per year (which we track) and cannot be used for internal apps (eg BI, CRM)

当你尝试登录 Windows Live Messenger 9 Wave3 的时候，却收到以下错误信息：
- Error 84cb0004
- Error 84cb000a
- Error 81000451
错误的原因就在于本地 Messenger 联系人数据损坏。Mess.be 给出了官方 KB 的解决方法链接：http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/958574。在这里我就翻译下 Vista 系统的解决方法：
a. 定位至以下目录:
C:\Users\用户名\Contacts\Messenger_e-mail_address
b. 删除该目录下的所有文件
c. 定位至以下目录
C:\Users\用户名\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts
d. 删除该目录下所有文件，包括隐藏文件夹
e. 尝试登录 Windows Live Messenger
XP 用户也好去 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/958574 看方法的，基本类似的。
LiveSide 的 Hackersoft 注意到 Windows Live Mail Wave 3 多了一个方便的创建新的邮件信纸模板的按钮。
可以通过上图所示 Tools > Options > Compose 标签项内 Stationery > Create New.. 按钮来打开创建新信纸的向导窗口。
向导窗口点击下一步，进入选择信纸的背景图片及设置图片布局等设置窗口。
再进一步可设置邮件字体、文字大小及颜色和文字布局等设置窗口，如上图。全部设置完毕即可命名该信纸模板进行保存。
现在，你就可以通过 Tools > Options > Compose 标签项内 Stationery ，选中邮件信纸模板，并选择相应的模板应用即可。
当然，我们仍然可以通过 Wave2 时创建信纸模板的方法，即选择模板窗口(如上左图窗口)中的创建新信纸模板按钮来实现。
