今天，作为Windows Live Publishing Portal的姐妹服务Windows Live Book Search发布了，它主要用来为Windows Live Search提供书本索引。其主要特性包括：

Navigation through books using a special 2 pane viewer.
Searching for terms inside a book
Ability to freely download most books in pdf form for offline reading

显然这项服务是针对于微软的竞争对手Google的一系列相应产品线。Windows Live Book Search将主要侧重于公共领域内不会引起版权纠纷的出版物，当然某些涉及版权问题的书本则通过Windows Live Publishing Portal解决。除此之外，这些计划还得到了一些重要的图书馆及大学的支持：

Cornell University
The American Museum of Veterinary Medicine
The British Library
The New York Public Library
The University of California
The University of Toronto

顺带提一下的是，今天Windows Live Academic Search也进行了一次升级。
