MSTechToday的一篇文章做出这样的猜想：Windows Live Local将被Live Search Maps取代？当然，这不是凭空捏造，因为之前的时候LiveSide就曾就Windows Live Local名字混乱的问题做出过探讨：究竟是Virtual Earth，Local.live.com还是Maps.live.com呢？从不少MSFTer的文字中看，他们更倾向于使用Maps.live.com。而从最新发布的Windows Live Toolbar上看，它被标记为“Maps”

更新的证据则是在访问Microsoft首页是所出现的广告：

也许有必要截图一张，存档在此。

对，这次它不再是简单”Windows Live Maps”，而是”Live Search Maps”！

这样对产品名称的修改并不是没有意义的：与其给用户一个易混乱的名称，不如在它未完全成熟之前修正它。再联想到Windows Live Search悄悄的变成Live Search，我们可以看出微软对Windows Live系列服务策略调整的一些端倪：偷偷的将“Windows Live”变成“Live”。当然早先的”Office Live”与”XBox Live”没有被“Windows”应该来说是幸运的。

11月7日，微软宣布他们即将把所有Hotmail帐户的容量到1GB；11月14日，部分Hotmail帐户升级至1G；而在今天，MailCall正式宣告他们对有所Hotmail Classic帐户容量的升级工作已经全部完成：这意味着，不管您是使用了5年的Hotmail忠实用户，还是5秒钟前刚刚注册完的Hotmail新用户，你们的Hotmail容量都是1GB！当然，免费的Live Mail容量还是2GB，其他相应的收费用户的容量则是免费用户的2倍。

1GB storage allocation for free Hotmail accounts is live! If you are new to Hotmail, then your account is created automatically with 1GB storage allocation. All existing accounts are at 1GB. To see that you would need sign out and sign in again.  The storage meter bar in our classic UI would show 1000 as the max number.  If your account is migrated to Windows Live Mail then your storage allocation is 2GB.

Windows X 刚刚释放最新版本的Vista Transformation Pack.版本号为6,RC1,目前此版本仍处于测试时期,可能包含一些bug,此版本添加了新的文件替换系统,更加完善的安装和卸载机制,部分x64平台支持,以及一些bug修复,以下是下载和Changelog.

LiveSide指出，依据Nielson NatRatings今年关于美国各搜索引擎市场占有率的调查结果(PDF)，Google和Yahoo的市场占有率分别为49.6%和23.9%，分别增长了23%和30%，然而MSN/Windows Live Search的市场占有率则为8.8%，下降了8%。

尽管Windows Live Search做出种种努力为用户提供更多更高级的搜索功能，但它依然是美国搜索引擎市场前10家中唯一一家市场份额下降的提供商，由此也可以看出要分现有搜索市场的一杯羹是何等的艰难。

这样的结局或许是因为：一来，目前的Windows Live Search还没有足够的说服力让用户转投它的怀抱；二来，新版的IE7允许用户修改自己习惯的搜索引擎，这与微软以往的策略略有不同。

在几天前微软宣布和移动运营商Sprint的联姻后，Windows Live Mobile推出了一项面向Cingular, Verizon, Sprint Nextel以及Alltel用户的全新短信搜索服务以通过短信的方式获取Windows Live Search结果（目前仅面向美国地区）。

1. 发送短信到95483 (WLIVE).
2. 寻找本地店铺,发送如下字符:”salon rae seattle wa”
3. 获取即时信息,只需在查询内容前添加”?”符号,例如”? mothers day”
4. 词语定义:使用”D”替代”?”, 比如”D transverse”

如果你和你的好友都使用Windows Live Messenger的话，那么恭喜你，你可以使用这项功能以协助你的好友杀毒了。这项功能类似于Windows Live Safety Center的在线扫描，主要检查对方电脑的病毒，磁盘碎片，网络端口等。扫描完成后，双方都能看到扫描结果；如果存在病毒的话，你可以点击修复，并在得到对方的许可后完成修复。自始至终，对方都掌握着某些重要操作的许可权。
